Gorilla Club Events

Gorilla Club Events Summer 2008
The Gorilla Club organises a quarterly programme of London events to which all members are invited. We have recently reviewed our venues and events for the Summer of 2008 will soon be posted - please re-visit these pages in a few weeks for more news. Members will be alerted by email.

The Gorilla Club™ regular social events in London (all advertised on here) include the Gorilla Lunch and the Gorilla Lounge, but the Gorilla Moment and the Lost Afternoon are also emerging as fun things to do!

Solidarity is a difficult thing to deliver in the urban environment but we do urge you to try. You will need to confirm your presence at a TGC group event to avoid us incurring wasteful on-costs. TGC recognises that members are busy people since cancellations run at some 40%. This is built into the process and there is no cancellation fee. However your absence can skew the quality the event for other members, quite apart from any catering and administrative difficulties, so we do urge you to be responsible.

If you have an event in London or elsewhere that you would like to open to other TGC members, then please let the Silverback know via any support or the contacts page on here.

I think this was just the kind of Gorilla Club event you must be after
A member who got it

The Gorilla Lounge
The Gorilla Lounge takes place from the early evening in the library area of a bar in Soho. This is an event that suits people who find it difficult to get free for an extended lunch or who have an evening to while away in pleasant conversation. You pay for your own food and drink and there is a good selection of alcohol-free.

The Gorilla Lunch
The Gorilla Lunch is an extended lunch in a private dining room which allows members to spend some time meeting other members over decent food and wine. Members working in a relaxed office environment or with children often opt for these occasions. Size restricted to 6 to 10 members to assist the flow of ideas.

Location: Two Brydges Club
Price: £50.00

The Blackback Programme
Members outside of London should apply to join the Blackback programme so as to introduce their own social events to the Gorilla Club webwide community. The Blackback is younger and challenges the authority of the Silverback, hoping to replace him one day maybe (in TGC, Blackbacks are female as well as male and of all ages).
To qualify:
BB1. Your event should respect without reserve all the rules, values and benefits of TGC: you may then append Gorilla to the front of your event (The Gorilla Club™ is a protected trademark). TGC stickers and electronic logo are available for free usage.
BB2. An invitation to attend should always be issued to the Silverback as a matter of courtesy and details of your event posted on our site or online groups.
BB3. You may not make a profit from any TGC event so organised.
BB4. Please encourage all participants to visit this site and/or our online groups. You are free from your event to propose any new members you feel would benefit TGC. The Silverback retains the sole authority to confirm membership of The Gorilla Club™.
And so our hope is that one day, as we travel from city to city, we shall thus encounter kindred spirits at a local Gorilla Club™ event, organised along simple Gorilla Club™ values, that will open us all up to yet more communities of ideas.

The Gorilla Hour
After a few years organising Gorilla events, 1530 or 3.30 pm has emerged as the Gorilla Hour(TM). A most challenging time for all apprentice Gorillas - too late to go back to work, too early to leave for a Gorilla event...

Location: Lunch or Lost Afternoon

The Lost Afternoon
Kindly on loan from one of our Blackbacks, the Lost Afternoon is that most advanced of Gorilla events beginning at the Gorilla Hour and lasting into the early evening. Not many Gorillas have managed this one so far - give it a whirl?

The Gorilla Moment
Ideal for snap encounters, why not indulge yourself and friends in a Gorilla Moment, a delicious pause in the day. Lasting some ten or twenty minutes Gorilla Moments take place under TGC values of conviviality, tolerance and good listening and avoid any outcome. Text a friend and meet in the airport lounge or local caff, it's that easy.

Past Events

This was a fantastic series of Gorilla Lunches attended by over 40 members during the autumn of 2005. These set the tone for all subsequent lunches - convivial and tolerant occasions where everyone came to listen.
date and time: 2005
Location: Two Brydges

2006 ended with what some members found the best event yet - a Wine-tasting without a Wine-taster and a Book evening without Books! Over fine wines and food members enjoyed interesting conversation which was often quite revealing.
date and time: 05.12.06 19:00-23:00
Location: The Salt Yard - check it out

With just three of us around the table you might think there was just not enough to talk about. Not so - and we did not even get to that question - And what do you do ? The many pleasures were completed when a third member who just happened to be in the environs joined us for coffee !
date and time: 30.11.06 12:30-15:00
Location: Two Brydges
